Why is it important to have friends?

For some reason this reminds me of the moral story about giving the guy a fish instead of teaching him to fish. If you give him the fish you only fed him for a day. But if you taught him how to fish you fed him for a lifetime. This fits that mold the same way. You are not really helping your friend in the long run if you're helping them to find friends. You are doing more harm to them than good. This is something they need to do themselves. Now you can help (teach) them to find and make friends with people. This would be harder on you and them, but in the long run its better for everyone involved.
